Current Music Opportunities:

Cherub Choir – 4 and 5 year old in NS-107, Director is Candy Ross, meets each Wednesday from 6:30 – 7:00 with recreation/missions continuing to 7:45. Check in and pick up in the Family Life Center.

Music Makers – Grades 1 and 2 in NS-111. Director is Julie Madsen, meets each Wednesday from 6:30 – 7:00 with recreation/missions continuing to 7:45. Check in and pick up in the Family Life Center.

South Main Singers – Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6. Instrumental Classes, 6:30 -7:00 with recreation/missions continuing until 7:45. Check in and pick up in the Family Life Center.

Spring-Summer Schedule

Outdoor programs for children, 6:30 – 7:30 PM, no music component

We are hopeful to begin a Fall program on Wednesdays beginning September 8 at 6:30. Please continue to check the website for more details as the starting date grows closer.              

Student Choir for grades 7-12 is presently not meeting as a choir, but special ensembles will be rehearsed on Wednesdays from 8:00 – 8:30 PM.  Plans are in place to resume Sunday rehearsals with the group April 11 thru May 30, 4:30-5:30. The choir will join the V21 virtual choir experience with Youth Cue during these months. No summer rehearsals are planned but hopeful of a return to full choir schedule Sunday, September 12.

Adult Choir is presently not meeting but special ensembles will be utilized for a potential Holy Week Service on Maundy Thursday, April 1 and Easter Sunday, April 4 as well as a evening Memorial Day Service at 5:30 PM on May 30. We are hopeful for a possible choral beginning September 8 on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM.                                      


Adult Choir

The Adult Choir is a non auditioned choir that rehearses on Wednesday evenings 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm in the choir rehearsal room located behind the worship center. The choir prepares weekly service anthems for 8:15 worship on Sundays and also prepares special programs that are presented throughout the year. Past programs have included special concerts with Steve Amerson and stand alone presentations that complement the Christmas and Easter seasons. The choir also enjoys participation in ministry experiences as well as retreat and personal growth events. Singers are welcome to visit rehearsals before making a commitment to the ensemble. Youth Choir

Youth Choir at South Main is a non auditioned group, grades 7-12 that rehearse on Sunday afternoons at 4:30 pm. This choir prepares music for 8:15 & 10:45 worship as well as for ministry opportunities and choir trips. The choir is very involved in area ministries as well as away experiences. Past music and mission trips include Canada, Washington DC, and South Texas. Youth enjoy the diversity in age and music and find this time to be helpful in the journey toward spiritual and musical maturity. Children’s Choirs

Children's Choirs for 3 year olds through 6th grade meet on Wednesday evenings 6:15-7:00 PM. Children are divided into four choirs. Three year olds by September 1 meet in K116 under the leadership of Amy Suffron. For three year olds music is a discovery time exploring movement and contrasting sounds. Four and Five year olds meet in K115 under the leadership of Jill Berry. This choir focuses on helping the children discover their voices and introduces them to the joy and excitement of singing.

The Music Makers (grades 1 & 2) are under the leadership of Julie Madsen and meet in Kidz Place 210. This choir introduces beginning music skills and teaches the joy of singing to our God.

The Young Musicians (grades 3 & 4) are under the leadership of Lauren Allen and meet in Kidz Place 217 while the South Main Singers (grades 5 & 6) are directed by Bobie Miller and meet in Kidz Place 212. The groups rehearse separately, but often sing together for worship and join forces in the spring for their musical production.





Our adult Bell choir meets on Tuesday evenings. The choir is directed by music assistant, Jane Logan, who oversees the program. For information contact Jane Logan at 281-487-8200 X 113 or  . Handbells require some music reading skills.

Band and Praise Team

Our band utilizes various woodwind, brass and string instruments as well as acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards and percussion. This group rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm in the worship center. The band, along with the praise team, gives leadership to our contemporary worship experience on Sundays at 10:45. Vision is a non-graded sign language team led by Pam Hodson. This group gives leadership to both of our Sunday worship experiences and is also involved in periodic ministry opportunities in our community.
