Mission Volunteers
We need volunteers to work with local mission churches to help reach people for Christ through Vacation Bible Schools, Sports Camps, and other various work projects. Contact Paul Bennett at paul@southmain.org.
Office and Facilities Volunteers
Sometimes we need someone to fill in with reception work. That would include answering phones and greeting visitors.
Occasionally there’s a need to help prepare large bulk mailings.
We also have many years of sermons and music programs on cassette tapes that need to be digitized. To preserve history we need to do this before they deteriorate. We have the equipment set-up at a vacant desk. If you can use a computer, you can digitize. This will be a long project but with the help of occasional volunteers we can accomplish this task.
Immediate Needs:

Someone to take over the maintenance of the fish aquarium in Preschool area
Power wash sidewalks at south entrance
DOOR GREETING TEAM
Primary Duties
Arrive at the assigned location to perform duties 30 minutes prior to the worship service when scheduled to serve.
Open the door and cheerfully greet all people entering the church, paying special attention to visitors.

FINANCE TEAM
The Finance Team is a standing, not annually elected, team. The Team Leader is elected by the group.
Primary Duties
Guide expenditures of monies that exceed budget allocations or are additional to budget allocations.
Assist in establishing financial policies and procedures of the church.

GROUNDS TEAM
Primary Duties
Secure and supervise contracted landscaping maintenance services.
Plan and schedule landscaping workdays as needed.
Recommend landscaping improvements or additions as the property is developed.
Assist in planning the landscaping maintenance budget.

LORD’S SUPPER TEAM
Primary Duties
Stay informed of scheduled observances of the Lord’s Supper.
Prepare the elements for the Lord’s Supper and arrange the service set in the Worship Center.
Make certain that the service set is cleaned and properly stored after use.
Inform the Administrator when elements need to be replenished or parts of the service set need replacement.

MEDIA TEAM
Primary Duty
Create and operate media for worship services.

MEDICAL TEAM
Primary Duties
Supervise and maintain medical equipment needed on-site for medical emergencies.
Be ready to provide assistance to those in need prior to arrival of emergency responders.
Provide medical support and consultation for church ministry projects and activities as needed.

NOMINATING TEAM
Primary Duties
Determine the leadership needs of the Sundays School, Discipleship Training, missions education, and music education organizations.
Seek to identify appropriate opportunities for church members to utilize their ministry gifts through leadership and service in these church program organizations.
Enlist church members as nominees for church program organizations leadership responsibilities and present them to the church for election.

Team Members
The Nominating Team is composed of Sunday School Age Division Directors and Church Program Organization Directors who are enlisted by Ministry Staff members. They are elected in the fall along with other Church Program Organization leaders.
OFFERING TEAM
Primary Duties
Meet in the designated area ten minutes prior to the start of the worship service when scheduled to serve.
Assist the pastor in the worship services by passing the collection plates among the worshipers or by standing by the doors with plates as directed.
Be reverently congenial to people during the passing of the plates.
Be available to serve when not scheduled, if needed.

PARKING LOT GREETERS TEAM
Primary Duties
Arrive by 9:10 am on assigned Sundays. Pick up a walkie talkie in the Family Life Center.
As people arrive, welcome and greet them.
Be watchful for guest and escort them to a welcome center in the Narthex or Martin Lobby.
Communicate with other Parking Lot Greeters via walkie talkie to locate available parking spaces for incoming vehicles.
Communicate with the Parking Lot Team to arrange van/bus transportation for the elderly and those parking in remote areas.
At the end of your shift return your walkie talkie to the Family Life Center.
Be friendly, courteous and out-going in greeting folks as they arrive at South Main.

PARKING TEAM
Primary Duties
Direct motorists on the church property to available parking spaces.
Use the church vans as needed to shuttle people between their cars and the building entrances.

PROPERTIES TEAM
Primary Duties
Monitor the condition of the buildings and grounds and recommend modifications and repair and maintenance services to be performed.
Utilize personal skills where possible to perform repair and maintenance services and make improvements on the buildings and grounds.
Plan and coordinate periodic workdays as needed.

SOCIAL TEAM
Primary Duties
Stay informed of major church-wide events on the church calendar.
Plan and implement arrangements for decorating, food, and serving for church-wide events.
Maintain Social Team supplies in a designated room.

USHERING TEAM
Primary Duties
Check the Worship Center prior to worship services to make certain supplies such as pencils, offering envelopes, and decision cards are in place and the physical environment is appropriate for worship.
Greet people cheerfully and assist in seating them in the Worship Center.
Assist in the worship service by distributing visitor’s cards to all guests.
Be available to assist in any way during the service should emergencies, such as illness of a worshiper, arise.

WORSHIP CENTER HOLIDAY DECORATING TEAM
Primary Duties
Decorate the Worship Center and Narthex for the Christmas season with existing Christmas decorations and updating them when necessary.
Remove Christmas decorations at the end of the season and prepare them for storage.

Primary Duties
Arrive at the assigned location to perform duties at the designated time prior to the worship service when scheduled to serve.
Cheerfully greet all people entering the worship center, paying special attention to visitors.
Distribute the Worship Guides to worshipers.

WORSHIP CENTER SOUND & LIGHTING TEAM
Primary Duties
Survey sound equipment and lighting needs in the Worship Center.
Set up and break down special sound and lighting equipment as necessary for worship services and special programs and safeguard equipment.
Regulate sound and lighting during worship services and special programs as scheduled.
Record services and duplicate cd’s for members as requested.
