South Main’s “The Gathering Place”

South Main Baptist Church provides a ministry known as “The Gathering Place”, opened to our community. This ministry began September of 2001, staffed by volunteer caregivers, offering a day of care for those with early stage Alzheimer’s or dementia.  Also, the program provides respite/relief care and support for the full-time caregivers who meet the needs of these individuals.

“The Gathering Place” meets on the third Tuesday of each month from 9:30 to 1:30 in South Main’s Fellowship Hall.  The loved ones enjoy fellowship with one another singing, sharing their past, doing age-appropriate exercises with music, eating a light breakfast and a nutritious lunch, and participating in a loving, warm atmosphere.  Friendships are evident as it is also a time when each one present can put aside their worries and enjoy the company of one another and leave with added blessings to their lives.

There is no cost to participate.  Please plan on attending and enjoying a day of fellowship with us and experience a ministry of guaranteed hugs, smiles, and great food.  There is never a cost for friendship. Please come. For more information about being a part of this event, please contact Kelley Trimble at 218.487.8200.
